Hello. Big Brand Ideas is on the hunt for an Editorial Manager to join our fast-growing Copy team in Manchester.

The right (or should we say “write”) person will have a solid portfolio of editorial copywriting under their belt, spanning different brand voices and digital formats.

Reporting into the Head of Copy, you will line-manage our editorial team and be responsible for producing outstanding performance-related content. We’re looking for someone who thrives at writing everything from articles to thought-leadership content, delivering high-quality copy to tight deadlines.

You’ll have demonstrable experience producing SEO-centred copy across a range of clients, managing a team, and will have no problem showing examples of editing first drafts. We’re looking for a mentor just as much as we are a fantastic writer.

The Editorial Manager’s job will also include delivering client content plans, joining ideation sessions, scheduling work, and supporting the broader agency with content deliverables. The latter could be anything from headline copy for social assets to video scripts.

As part of your role, you will:

  • Write high-quality content that delivers fantastic SEO results.
  • Manage editorial deadlines and briefing junior writers. 
  • Produce short- and long-form editorial content.
  • Dissect internal/external briefs and providing work that exceeds client expectations.
  • Collaborate with teams to determine copy direction.
  • Actively participate in idea generation, campaign development, and execution.
  • Maintain high standards of copywriting and exercising quality control.
  • Proof and edit other copywriters’ work.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all written content.
  • Liaise with clients to present feedback and talk through deliverables. 
  • Assist the team with content plans.
  • Support departments, including SEO, Social Media and PR. 
  • Work across multiple clients and projects simultaneously. 
  • Manage demanding and changing deadlines. 

We’d love you to have:

  • At least five years’ editorial experience either in-house or at an agency.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing/Journalism/English or a related subject.
  • A fantastic grasp of the English language with a gift of spotting grammatical errors from a distance.
  • Experience creating templates and processes from scratch.
  • Advanced knowledge of performance content and SEO.
  • A varied portfolio of work that spans different formats and industries. 
  • The ability to turn your hand to varying tones of voice.
  • Experience in producing editorial calendars and planning content. 
  • Enthusiasm and can take constructive feedback. 
  • Creativity and doesn’t shy away from bringing ideas to the table. 
  • The ability to work well under pressure. 
  • Experience of working independently.
