You’ll work at the heart of the region’s fastest-growing media, marketing, and tech news platform, producing features, industry insight, and original content that informs and inspires.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile content and events, build relationships with influential voices across the North, and be involved in some of our flagship editorial projects and research rankings.
About Prolific North
We are the go-to source of news, features, opinion, and research for the North’s creative, digital, and tech industries. Our journalism, events and rankings are respected throughout the region, and we pride ourselves on being an independent, inclusive platform championing the people and companies shaping the North's economy.
What you’ll be doing
- Feature Writing: Produce engaging and insightful features, interviews, and profiles on key figures, trends, and businesses across the North’s creative and tech scene, alongside some general news reporting on the sectors we cover.
- Thought Leadership / Opinion: Work with partners and clients to deliver compelling thought leadership, opinion pieces and commercial content – maintaining editorial integrity while meeting client needs.
- Regular Features Management: Own and manage our most-loved formats, such as What I Learnt and How I Became, ensuring regular, high-quality content and strong contributor relationships.
- Event Coverage: Report from key Prolific North events including the Creative Awards, Digital City Festival, and more. Live blogging, interviews and post-event write-ups will all be part of the mix.
- Industry Research: Support our research projects and rankings – like the Top 50 Digital Agencies and Tech Companies to Watch – with research, interviews, and data analysis.
- Contribute Ideas: Bring fresh ideas to our editorial meetings and help shape the direction of our coverage.
What we’re looking for
- Excellent writer: Strong journalistic instincts and the ability to craft clean, engaging copy across formats.
- Organised & proactive: Able to manage multiple deadlines, relationships and editorial strands at once.
- Confident communicator: Comfortable interviewing senior industry figures and collaborating with commercial colleagues where needed.
- Digital savvy: Experience using CMS platforms (ideally WordPress) and understanding of SEO and social media best practices.
- Interest in the creative, tech and marketing sectors: You don’t need to be an expert – curiosity and enthusiasm go a long way.
