Job Description

Directive Consulting is the leading B2B performance marketing agency that delivers real revenue—not just leads.

We use Customer Generation (a marketing methodology developed by us) to cut through the noise. Forget MQLs—we’re here to drive pipeline, fuel SQLs, and scale brands that are serious about growth. From Paid Media and SEO to CRO, RevOps, and Go-To-Market Strategy, we build marketing engines that win in SaaS and across B2B industries.

We move fast. We think boldly. We are elite. We hire people who challenge the status quo and push campaigns past what’s expected - sparking demand for bold, innovative brands. If you live for performance, love solving hard problems, and want your work to actually mean something, you’ll fit right in.

But here’s the fun part—we don’t just deliver results; we’re shaping the future of marketing. Ready to build something that breaks the mold?

About The Role

This is a hybrid seat. Half of it is owning the close and keeping the numbers clean. The other half is turning those numbers into forward-looking insight that leadership uses to price, staff, and grow. You'll be the Head of Finance's right hand. You'll own the monthly rhythm end to end and update the models that tell us where margin is made and lost, by client, division, and service line.

If you've been an accounting manager who wants more strategy, this is the role.**

What You’ll Do: **

Accounting & Close (~75%)

  • Own the month-end close: revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and a close calendar that consistently hits its deadline.

  • Manage recurring, project, and variable (percent-of-spend / programmatic) revenue, including mid-month starts, churn, offering swaps, and prorations.

  • Manage our accountant and oversee AP, AR, payroll entries, and multi-country (US, Canada, Mexico, UK) compliance.

  • Maintain clean, documented, audit-ready books, supported by strong internal controls and reconciliations.

  • Oversee billing accuracy and collections in partnership with account teams.**

FP&A (~25%)**

  • Maintain monthly client and divisional P&Ls, allocating staff costs from time-tracking data, direct COGS, and overhead.

  • Track performance against our gross margin and EBITDA targets. Flag clients, service lines, and roles that drift, and explain why.

  • Assist Head of Finance with the budget, rolling forecast, and variance analysis. Present monthly results with a clear point of view, not just a data dump.

  • Support pricing and capacity planning: model new-client economics, hiring timing, and utilization.

  • Report on revenue KPIs: NRR, churn, expansion, and revenue per head.

  • Automate and improve reporting so the team spends less time assembling data and more time analyzing it.**

What You’ll Bring:**

  • 7+ years in accounting and/or FP&A, ideally with experience in both.

  • Hands-on month-end close ownership under GAAP, including revenue recognition for service businesses.

  • Strong modeling skills in Excel / Google Sheets (SUMIFS, lookups, and driver-based models should be second nature).

  • Experience in professional services, agencies, or SaaS, where margin is driven by people and time.

  • Familiarity with NetSuite (or similar ERP) and time-tracking tools like Harvest a plus.

  • Strong English communication skills**

Nice to Have**

  • Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting experience.

  • Experience building client or project profitability reporting.

  • Comfort using AI tools to speed up analysis and reporting.**

Why Directive **

  • Direct line to Head of Finance; your work shapes real decisions.

  • A finance function that's still being built, so there's room to put your fingerprints on it.

**

What We Offer:**

  • 🏠 We have a set living wage at Directive; the actual salary may vary based on Directive's compensation practices, job related skills, and depth of experience.

  • 🙏 Medical, dental, vision plans, disability, and life insurance coverage for you and your family that fit your lifestyle

Including a 100% employer-paid plan for you and a 50% employer contribution for your dependents (US, CAD, MX)

  • Benefits to Support the Whole Person:

🧠 Mental - Access to certified therapists through Spring Health, membership to Headspace

  • 💪 **Physical **- Physical therapy through **Omada, thousands of Aaptiv virtual workouts, **complimentary One Medical membership for primary and virtual care

  • 🛫 Time Off - Unlimited PTO (2-week minimum), Paid Company Holidays, Your Birthday Off, End of Year Recharge (Closed December 24 - January 1), Paid Parental Leave

  • 💰 Financial - Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a 3% company match

  • 🌟 Bonus - Annual bonus based on tenure, which scales in total amount over time

  • 🌴 Annual Company-wide Retreat
