We have a project for 3 months for an esteemed SAP Consultant with possibility to extend with one of our financial clients. Candidates must be able to overlap at least 4 hrs with Eastern US TZ Hours, team is split between AMER and EMEA. Contracts extends every 3 months and is likely to go deep into 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads and architects software solutions written in Java that integrate with SAP.

Provides technical leadership and guidance to a small engineering team to maintain and enhance this application.

Leads architectural planning and drives decisions on programming patterns, system design, and infrastructure. Balances technical trade-offs with business and design needs, working with teams to align on solutions. Takes ownership of large technical initiatives ensuring they deliver value on time and within scope.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define workstreams, technical strategies and product roadmaps

Helps define and apply programming processes and best practices. Conducts code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and standards

Leads and mentors engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Mentors others and fosters a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Technical Skills:

8+ years experience working in production applications written in Java and Spring Boot

Deep, hands-on expertise with SAP Ariba, including:

Ariba Developer Portal: application registration, OAuth flows, and API key/token management

  • Supplier Data API, including pagination and bulk data handling patterns

  • Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG) for ERP synchronization

  • Real-world experience with the practical limits of Ariba approval workflows and custom fields (what can and cannot be configured, common failure modes)

  • SIM/SLP configuration: approval workflow design, custom field and risk module setup

Experience building and maintaining backend integrations: event-driven architectures, orchestration (e.g., Step Functions), and NoSQL data stores (e.g., DynamoDB), on AWS

Proficient with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) as part of standard development workflow

Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, Cloud for Credit, Business Technology Platform (BTP), Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP), and SAP UI5

Strong knowledge of performance optimization and security best practices, particularly around third-party API authentication and credential management

Experience with credit or financial systems is a large plus

Experience working with Cloud Foundry is a plus

Responsibilities:

Leads and architects software solutions written in Java that integrate SAP Ariba with backend enrichment and risk data services

Owns the technical roadmap for the Ariba integration, spanning platform configuration (SIM/SLP workflows, custom fields, approval rules) and connector-side engineering

Provides technical leadership and guidance to a small engineering team maintaining and enhancing the Ariba connector

Leads architectural planning and drives decisions on programming patterns, system design, and infrastructure across both the Ariba platform configuration layer and the backend integration

Serves as the primary technical point of contact for Ariba platform questions, troubleshooting complex configuration and integration issues that span SAP Ariba and our systems

Collaborates with cross-functional teams (product, client-facing solutions delivery) to define workstreams, technical strategy, and roadmap for the Ariba product line

Helps define and apply programming and configuration best practices. Conducts code reviews and ensures adherence to best practices and standards

Leads and mentors engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing across both Ariba platform expertise and backend engineering

Soft Skills:

Excellent leadership and strategic thinking abilities

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Ability to lead engineering teams

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Proven track record of leading and delivering complex software projects, ideally involving third-party SaaS platform integrations

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $80 hourly. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible. Client preference is for EST time zone.**
