We are pioneers at heart. What this means, is that we are always leaning forward, thinking of what we can create tomorrow that does not exist today. We were born digital and we are a new model of agency, with a deep skillset in tech and marketing. That’s why we hire curious, self-driven, talented people who never stop innovating.

Our culture is big enough to cope and small enough to care. Meaning, that with people across 20+ countries, we’re big enough to provide you with the best tools, global opportunities, and benefits that help you thrive. While acting small by investing in you, your growth, your team, and giving you the autonomy to solve our clients problems, no matter where you are in the world.

THE ROLE

DEPT® is seeking a Principal, Software Engineering (Adobe - Integrations & Automations) to join our forward-deployed architecture squad in North America. Mapped back to our platform-agnostic Application Craft, this role is a hands-on technical seat focused on App Craft excellence. You will specialize in middleware modernization, system-to-system webhook logic, custom API connector builds, and workflow automation.

You will step directly into complex client environments to re-architect broken API paths, custom service integrations, and synchronous data calls that cause gateway timeouts or system outages. You will move custom system extensions from brittle, in-process codebase overrides to modern, serverless, out-of-process architectures, ensuring long-term operational stability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Remediate Broken Middleware: Re-architect and fix broken API paths, custom service integrations, and data calls causing timeouts, latency, or outages.

  • Build Out-of-Process Extensions: Shift custom system extensions from brittle codebase overrides to modern, serverless, out-of-process architectures.

  • Construct Workflow Connectors: Construct automated handoff hooks and workflow pipelines that bridge work management systems with downstream marketing engines.

  • Deploy Custom Webhooks: Design, build, and test robust webhook configurations and event-driven data transfer layers.

  • Ensure Integration Stability: Collaborate with web and data architects to secure end-to-end commerce, customer, and transactional data pathways.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Application & Integration Engineering: 6+ years of backend software engineering or systems integration experience inside an agency, consulting, or enterprise environment.

  • Integration Stack Expertise: Deep technical command of REST and GraphQL API design, serverless microservices, webhooks, and secure authentication models (OAuth).

  • Required Adobe Experience:

  • Direct experience developing and configuring workflows inside Adobe Workfront and Adobe Workfront Fusion.

  • Hands-on experience utilizing Adobe App Builder and Adobe Commerce API Mesh to build out-of-process system extensions.

  • Familiarity connecting Adobe Experience Manager (AEM Assets) and creative workflows with external work management tools.

  • Technical Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system connection bottlenecks and latency issues across multi-platform networks.

Work Environment: Remote position - TRAVEL EXPECTED

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

  • We are a collaborative, open-door, best-idea-wins environment that fosters personal and company growth and has fun doing it. Here is a snapshot of our benefits package:

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision coverage

  • 401k plan, plus matching

  • PTO

  • Paid Company Holidays

  • Parental Leave
