S4 Capital is looking for a Regional Lead for the end-to-end ownership, governance, and optimisation of the Record to Report (R2R) process within our Finance team. Based in Kuala Lumpur, this role holds primary responsibility for the region, ensuring processes are standardised, efficient, and compliant while meeting local operational needs.
The successful candidate will act as a Global Process Owner (GPO) with a dual responsibility: driving global standardisation and maintaining direct operational management for R2R activities within their assigned region. A critical component of this role is the partnership with the other R2R Leads. Together, these teams will work in tandem to evolve R2R processes and drive continuous improvement across the global organisation.
Global Process Ownership & Collaboration
Act as a global owner for all R2R processes, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and best practices.
Global Partnership: Work closely with the R2R Regional Leads to harmonise processes across all four regions (APAC, EMEA, NAMER, LATAM) and lead global transformation initiatives.
Develop and maintain a global R2R strategy that drives standardisation and efficiency.
Define and implement global policies and controls while ensuring flexibility for local regulatory requirements.
Establish governance frameworks to monitor global performance metrics (KPIs/SLAs).
Master Data Governance: Managing the integrity of the Chart of Accounts (CoA) and ensuring that any new cost centres or profit centres follow the global standard
Regional Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day operational management of R2R activities across the region
Manage the local R2R team to ensure that it is adequately resourced to meet all Group requirements, and that the team are developed and motivated.
Ensure timely completion of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, intercompany transactions, and fixed asset accounting. In particular this includes adherence to all Group month-end and reporting requirements.
Review and Approve Journal entries and Balance sheet reconciliations.
Review revenue recognition (e.g. net revenue, WIP)
Balance Sheet Governance: Lead monthly balance sheet review meetings to ensure integrity, accuracy, and timely resolution of aging items.
Cash Management: Partner with Treasury to monitor regional cash positions and ensure accurate General Ledger reflections of cash movements.
Manage the preparation of statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP and local requirements.
Ensure compliance with regional tax regulations (VAT/GST), data protection laws, and internal controls.
Act as primary point of contact for local statutory audits
Process Optimisation & Technology
Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and implementing cost-effective solutions.
Data Architecture: Collaborate with IT to optimise the Chart of Accounts (CoA) and reporting hierarchies to support better business insights.
Leverage technology solutions and AI-driven platforms to modernise R2R operations.
Benchmark performance against industry standards to identify opportunities for innovation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on R2R operations and strategic initiatives.
M&A Onboarding: Lead the integration of newly acquired entities within the region into the FSS R2R framework.
Lead and mentor a team of professionals in Kuala Lumpur, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture.
Ensure succession planning for key roles within the regional team.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting and a professional qualification (ACCA or equivalent) are essential.
Experience: 2+ years in a R2R lead function at a senior management level, including shared services leadership. Minimum 7 years experience in finance roles, ideally in a similar industry.
Global Mindset: Proven ability to lead large-scale transformation across multiple geographies and diverse cultures.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of ERP systems, IFRS/GAAP, and automation technologies (e.g., RPA).
Communication: Exceptional English skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across different time sones and business units.
Change Management: Skilled at driving organisational change effectively during periods of transition.
